I keep saying this, but time is FLYING!!! Christmas was over 2 weeks ago! I feel like I just put up all my decorations and now, they are all tucked back in their boxes. I might have to start decorating a bit earlier next year.
We had a wonderful (albeit busy...) holiday season. I worked a few nights the week leading up to Christmas but was off for quite a long time over the holidays. On December 23, we spent some time with the Nieboer family eating and opening gifts. Christmas Eve was spent with the Thiessens. We went to church together in the afternoon and Cole stayed in the nursery by himself! First time in ages. That evening, the rest of the Thiessen clan came over for food and games. Good times.
On Christmas Day, we were able to spend some time together in the morning...just the three of us. It was so fun to watch Cole open his presents and play with them. Cole has a large Catapillar dump truck for riding on and we bought him a smaller one that came with a bulldozer for Christmas. The first thing he did when we opened the package: sat on the little dump truck! Too funny.
We also bought him a little doctor's kit, complete with syringe, glasses, cell phone, and stethoscope, among other little tools. He LOVES it. He carries his little bag around all the time, giving needles to whoever will take one, and of course, wearing the little glasses. Such a goof.
But perhaps he comes by it honestly...
Christmas Day afternoon was spent with the Nieboer and Veluw bunch, more food and company. On Boxing Day, we were back to the Thiessen's to visit with the Ekkels. Whew! Cole did so well with all the excitement and extra people and visiting. He napped and went to bed well at both his grandparent's houses. Such a blessing.
January has also held some excitement for us so far. We all contracted a rather nasty bout of the stomach flu and have been fighting that for the past week. Thankfully, I think it has run it's course and we are all finally recouperating.
Despite the busyness of Christmas and the illness of this year so far, Cole is changing by leaps and bounds! He is learning new words almost every other day it seems! His most recent aquisition is "bup" (burp...thanks for that one, Dad). He has switched from walking to running everywhere, which accounts for numerous bumps and bruises. We are also working on a few new teeth these days...molars and eye teeth. Poor buddy. Hopefully they all pop through soon. He has learned to eat with a spoon now, for which I am thankful, although it is still a fairly messy process.

Jeff usually comes home for lunch but one day this past week, he had some things to catch up on so he stayed at work. Around 1230, Cole was asking for Daddy and went to the door to check and see if he was there.
Jeff and I didn't exchange Christmas gifts this year...instead, we bought one big gift: we are going on a holiday! We are taking off on a Western Caribbean cruise with Norweigian Cruise Lines in a few weeks! SOOOO excited!!! Cole gets to stay with Grandpa and Grandma Thiessen for a whole week! What a lucky boy. Not sure who's more nervous...Mommy or Grandma!
